Korede Bello, Wande Coal, Burna Boy, others light up Ijebu Ode

The Ijebu Ode edition of Glo flagship music concert, Slide and Bounce was held on Saturday with thousands of residents of the ancient city treated to first class performances from top rated Nigerian artistes. In addition, they also enjoyed the performance of Tolulope Orimoloye, a seven-year old dance prodigy who thrilled them with his amazing dance stunts.

The concert which was held at De Prime Event Centre, Molipa Quarters was turned into a carnival of sorts with over 2,000 young and old residents of the town who attended the event, singing and screaming the tunes of all the artistes who came on stage.

Anchored by highly entertaining Jimmy Akinsola who engaged the crowd all through the musical interludes between the performances by the stars, the event kicked-off with powerful vocalist Ego Ogbaro, thrilling the crowd with two of her favourite tracks, Don’t give up and Love me now with confidence and mastery of experienced vocalist.

Bumper 2 Bumper exponent, Wande Coal also entertained the crowd with different tracks especially from his Mo-hit record days . He delivered songs like, A si maa pe yin, You bad, bumper 2 bumper and other beats to the excitement of his numerous fans. He crowned the outstanding performance with, “My Woman, My Everything” which sent his fans wild with excitement as they danced and sang to the beat.

Burna Boy was the next artiste on stage and he entertained the crowd with his energetic display. A show master any day, he thrilled the crowd with his hyper-energetic delivery, especially with his popular songs including Run my race and checks and balances. He took the excitement to a new height by encouraging the fans to come close to the stage so they could ”feast on him”. The audience also responded in a near-stampede, with many of them surging forward to the podium while a good number of them climbed chairs to have an enhanced view of the Glo ambassador. Next was Mavin records protégé, Korede Bello who came on stage and electrified the show especially with his hit track “Godwin” which lightened up the atmosphere and the entire crowd came alive. The new Glo ambassador subsequently took charge of the music platform with his hit songs to which the crowd sang along with him.

The show also featured dance and singing competitions in which local artistes were able to showcase their talents. The winners who went home with branded prizes courtesy of Globacom include the discovery of the night, seven year-old Tolulope Orimoloye who impressed the crowd with his amazing dance stunts, beating others to the first place and the duo of Hassan Idris and Obadia Shanu who also won in another category of the dance competition.

Glo brand ambassador and Nollywood actor, Odunlade Adekola also came on stage and delighted the crowd hilarious jokes from his acting experiences and different encounters with his fans. The actor who was welcomed with loud ovation, lived up to the expectation, combining effectively with the Master of Ceremonies, Folajimi Akinsola to entertain the crowd.

The Glo Slide n Bounce, in its second season was organized by the country’s top telecoms firm, Globacom as a loyalty reward show to delight the company’s teeming subscribers in 11 cities across the country.
