Globacom's flagship comedy show, Laffta Fest, gained yet another ground breaking attendance by Globacom's subscribers, this time, at the Port Harcourt edition held at Aztech Arcum event centre.
Excited subscribers thronged the venue as early in order to secure prime position and soak in maximum fun.
Keeping up the promise of freebie packs to reward early arrival, more than 100 early birds were handed Glo-gift bags containing several eye-popping gifts. A sea of other guests who could not be accommodated inside the expansive hall monitored the proceeding from an LED screen within the premises of the event center.
Local artistes and top-rated comedians held the audience enthralled throughout the show. Port Harcourt-based artistes such as Sammie Wonder, Senator, MP2, B1, MC Bentenson, and Prince Hezekiah performed to the delight of the audience who proudly applauded their home-bred idols.
Popular comedians including Funny Bone and Salvador of Uganda, mounted the stage to thrill the guests. Julius Agwu, another Port Hacourt- born comedian was welcomed onto the stage with the song, “Port Harcourt Boy”.
Julius seized the opportunity to tell his fans his experience in the United States where he went for brain surgery and commended Globacom for giving him the grace to perform before his own people. He revealed that this was his first time in Port Harcourt since February this year. He drew a huge emotional response from the crowd when he said that at a point, he was not sure if he would make it back to Port Harcourt alive. He profusely appreciated Dr Mike Adenuga Jr and the management of Globacom for the immense support accorded him.
Comedy king, Bright Okpocha popularly known as Basket Mouth who anchored the show gave out Glo recharge cards to 'fast-finger' members of the audience to load the digits on their phones.
One of the highlights of the event was Salvador’s introduction which drew a deafening cheer from the audience who ushered him on stage as he threw rib-cracking jives which left several guests teary-eyed.
Prior to Salvador's performance, the synergy between DJ Jimmy Jatt and Glo ambassador, Korede Bello had taken the show to its highest pitch as the young Supreme Mavin Dynasty protégé mingled and interacted with his teeming fans while he performed his hit track, “Godwin”. The duo of Nollywood actors, Chiwetalu Agu and Bishop Okon added flavour to the show by making cameo appearances on stage. The hall erupted in deafening applause as Funny Bone and later Basket Mouth introduced the duo.
Wande Coal brought the show to a glorious end with a superlative and energetic performance.
Globacom’s National Sales Coordinator, South South, Augustine Mamuro in his welcome address said the company is very passionate about its subscribers who are considered the company’s source of joy, which is why the twin flagship shows, Laffta Fest and Slide n Bounce have been put together to reward and delight them within one month.
