The Presidential Candidate of the SLPP, Rtd. Brigadier Julius Maada Bio has arrived at the Heathrow International Airport, London, on Sunday 3rd December 2017 ahead of a week-long diplomatic and party engagements. Rtd. Brigadier Bio arrived with his wife, Fatima Bio.
The SLPP Presidential Candidate, who was recently honoured in Paris, is now in London to continue his charm offensive with the international community. The charm offensive will start with Bio delivering a presentation at the Chatham House, the Royal Institute of International Affairs on the topic "Consolidating Democracy in Post-war Sierra Leone". The Chatham House which is an international policy institute will host Rtd. Brigadier Julius Maada Bio on Tuesday 5th December 2017.
Later in the week, Rtd. Brigadier Julius Maada Bio will also be engaged in series of diplomatic meetings with various officials in London and Brussels as he prepares to form the next Government. It is expected Rtd. Brigadier Julius Maada Bio will use his various diplomatic meetings to promote his policy ideas that he presented to various stakeholders recently at the Radisson Blu in Freetown. Bio will also use the diplomatic meetings to raise concerns on the challenges for a free, fair and credible elections on 7th March 2018.
In honour of the Presidential Candidate, the SLPP United Kingdom Region will also be organising a dinner and dance fund-raising event on Saturday 9th December 2017 at the Prestigious Royal Regency Hall, Manor Park, London. SLPP members are expected to travel from United States and other European countries to grace the fund-raising dinner and dance.
Rtd. Brigadier Julius Maada Bio is expected to be joined on his United Kingdom trip by a delegation including Members of Parliament, various Party Stakeholders and National Officers to be led by the National Chairman and Leader, Dr. Prince A. Harding. The SLPP Presidential Candidate will be officially welcomed to the United Kingdom at a reception this evening to be hosted by the SLPP United Kingdom and Ireland Region Chairman, Mohamed Yongawo.
Speaking of the trip, the Regional Chairman of SLPP United Kingdom and Ireland, Mohamed Yongawo said “The SLPP will form the next Government after March 2018 and this United Kingdom trip by our next President Brigadier Bio will give an opportunity for the international community to know that Bio is not only prepared to transform our country but also that the New Direction Policies offer the best hope for our country.”
